Description

JOB PURPOSE: 

The Material Planner is a full-time administrative position that manages inventories to ensure that material resources are consistent with production schedules. A successful Material Planner should be able to ensure the appropriate supply of cost-efficient and high-quality material required to maintain steady production and product delivery. The position reports to the Senior Procurement & Commodities Manger. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Determine the required materials and generates purchase orders utilizing MRP.

· Schedule and manage the delivery of materials within Sun-Maid warehouses.

· Initiate warehouse transfers to support production at various Sun-Maid sites.

· Assist in the management and reporting of inventory levels for assigned categories.

· Manage adjustments in inventories needed to support schedule changes and cancellations.

· Coordinate timing with production scheduling for artwork and product transitions.

· Submit master data governance change request.

· Address and drive resolution to quality issue with suppliers.

· Review and resolve discrepancies with quantities and price on supplier invoices.

· Report supplier service and quality metrics.

· Facilitate communication between the supplier and other Sun-Maid departments or customers.

· Performs other duties, as assigned.

Requirements

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

· High school diploma/GED required.

· Degree in Business, logistics, or related field, preferred.

· 1 – 3 years of experience in material planning, inventory management, or other supply chain role, preferably in food manufacturing, preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

· Possess strong organizational and time management skills.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Able to independently prioritize responsibilities based on business need.

· Knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain management.

· Good communication skills both verbal and written.

· Able to perform work with close attention to detail.

· Able to handle multiple tasks with interruptions.

· Experience in QAD or related ERP systems.

· Proficient in Microsoft office.
